PACIFIC RAILROAD SOCIETY is one of the oldest rail enthusiast organizations in the United States. We are comprised of people from all ages and walks of life who share an interest in railroads, and membership is open to anyone interested in railroads or rail transit. Train travel, history, preservation, equipment restoration and photography are among the interests and activities of the Society. The Society is run entirely by volunteers.

A Fall Day on the Rails—Los Angeles and San Diego!
Excursion 561 November 16, 2025
Take a rare opportunity to experience the golden age of rail travel in a piece of the past as you travel along the beautiful Southern California coastline in our historic private Pullman car, the ex-Union Pacific National Forum. Pick from two departure times and make a round trip between Los Angeles and San Diego with your fellow train travel lovers. The Forum will be coupled to Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliners for a day of adventure and relaxation. Choose from departure times below.

Rail travel is subject to several unforeseeable delays and cancellations, so the arrival times above may be inaccurate. In case of cancellation by Amtrak before the trip runs, you will receive a complete refund. If you notify us before July 9, 2025, that you have to cancel, you will receive a complete refund.
Pacific Railroad Society, Inc., is a California non-profit public benefit educational corporation, recognized by the Federal government as non-profit under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). It has been running rail excursions since 1936 and is composed of people who love trains and train travel. Any revenues over costs from this activity will be devoted to the educational activities of Pacific Railroad Society, including the preservation, restoration and maintenance of the historic rail car National Forum. This activity is conducted by specially trained volunteers. PRS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or political affiliation.
Tickets are only available via the attached form which must be mailed to the address on the form. First come first served. Don’t get left out of this rare opportunity to ride a 1956 Pullman car at 90-mph.
Join us Saturday, November 1, 2025 for our next "Trackless RDC Excursion" - A tour of Metro Div 16 and the Lomita Railroad museum.
VISIT: The Pacific Railroad Society Museum is located in the historic Santa Fe Depot in San Dimas and is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Access is limited to comply with COVID requirements, and the Museum is staffed by volunteers, so please call (909) 394-0616 before you visit to confirm the schedule. PRS endeavors to open the Museum on additional days for researchers, tour groups, and special requests. Please call to arrange a visit during off-hours.
JOIN: Membership in the Society is open to anyone interested in trains, railroads, or rail transit. People of all ages and abilities are welcome. Yearly dues start at just $45. TRAVEL: Pacific Railroad Society owns railcars that it takes on private train excursions! Excursions are generally on Amtrak routes to destinations such as San Luis Obispo, San Diego, and Perris. Society members and the general public can purchase tickets for these excursions. Click HERE to learn more about past and future excursions.
